Somewhere inside us, we all want to make a difference, in somebody’s life and in our community. Opportunities are always out there, waiting for big hearts!! I come from a small village in India and was raised watching how my parents made a difference in lives of others, less fortunate than us. My dad would buy slippers in summer for kids to wear in simmering heat of India and blankets in winter for families living in the village. My mother would stay up past midnight at times to sow and knit for young girls of the village who would not be properly clothed for the weather. My parents followed the saying “The greatest value of serving is not what you do for others but the better person you become because of it.” I believe that we have a duty to serve the community we live in. And, after discussing with my friends, I also realized how little we know about the challenges faced by kids and at-risk youth in Snohomish and King County. I am encouraging myself, my kids and friends to make a difference by serving the underprivileged living in our local communities.
I joined Utsavusa in 2016 , with an awareness of how fortunate my family and I am in a world of grossly imbalance fortune, I felt an immediate resonance with UTSAV USA goals and mission.
I have always felt giving has a positive effect on our community and us too, working with UtsavUsa I not only get to meet motivating epople but also get to realize that doing even small things can have a big impact on others and can make a difference.
I want to encourage same gesture of helping others in my and other kids.
More about me:
Graduated from University of Michigan(Detroit) in computer engineering. Currently working for Microsoft as a software engineer. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and am completely motivated to take any tiny steps if it could make a positive difference in community.
The Phrase my soul always resonate with:
"Although one is not necessarily responsible for the misfortunes of others, we do have a moral responsibility to help and it is our duty, to work towards making a better world for everyone as and when possible."
I believe we are blessed n privileged in life and are truly living "An American Dream". Coming from humble background, this blessed life is valued more by me.I always wanted my kids to be be aware of the fortunate life they are living. UTSAV USA gave me such platform where I can fulfill my wishes n connect to local communities as well. As my gratitude n thanks , I am always motivated to help less privileged in life, specially the kids n the youth. Masters in English and a trained teacher by profession...I am a Home Maker by choice now. I am also involved as a volunteer with another non profit which helps connect Indian community together. I love to spend time with my family n friends and consider them to be my strength.
Being a child of immigrant parents, I have witnessed firsthand the efforts entailed in the journey to achieve the American Dream. I am a proud Indian American and aspire to multiply the efforts and contributions my family has made within our communities. I wish to lead by example so that my children and future generations continue their lives with an understanding and appreciation of how fortunate we all are to be where we are. Hence, the reason I joined UTSAV USA. UTSAV provides me with the perfect opportunity to contribute to my local communities and raise awareness to issues that affect many who are less fortunate. I grew up with a business background, earning my MBA on the east coast. Following two generations of entrepreneurs in my family, I have recently started my own business in Seattle. Balancing family and a new business are the primary joys of my life along with volunteering for good causes and simply helping out where needed. Keep smiling!
Born and brought up in the capital city of India, me along with my siblings, were always blessed with the best of everything growing up, not realizing what the less fortunate are missing.
It was not until I started volunterring for an orphanage in Delhi, I realized how blessed we are and to be thankful for all the good things in life.
After moving to the US,having kids and the busy work schedule, unfortunately volunteering took a back seat. I was silently being nagged by my inner self to give back to the underprivileged in some little way that I possibly can.
Last year I got this wonderful opportunity to join Utsav USA's team and a chance to stay connected and give back to the community. It has been a great experience so far and I'm looking forward to working for a great cause. I'm a Recruiter by profession with a strong passion for designing clothes, running an Indian clothing boutique. We are blessed with 2 wonderful kids and our effort is to always imbibe in them the value of being thankful and staying humble. As they say "Charity begins at home" and I strongly believe that giving is not just about making donation, it's about making a difference!
Being cognizant of the fact, how grateful I am to have 'what I have' in my life, I've always had the urge to give back to the world in some way. I have been brought up in a very giving environment and seeing my mother help dozens of kids, women and senior citizens through her own efforts back home in India, I've always had the undying fire. Living in the US, it has been hard for me to find the non profits that are dedicated to involving diversities, bringing communities together for a common cause : "Help the ones in need". My search ended when I got associated with Utsav and it's team of amazing volunteers. I am a proud member of the Utsav team and we take immense pride to help the needy and bring a smile on their faces.
I have two beautiful kids and a very supportive husband. Having a full time job and a side business, I have struggled in past with finding time to volunteer. With Utsav, I am so content as we work together and believe in our core cause of helping the ones who need it!
I'd like to share my favorite quote and belief in life :
"The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
I'am from a small city in India called Ranchi , fortunate enough for all the little things i have got in life from amazing parents to the best education . I feel blessed in many ways !!! highly inspired by my mother who has taught me to be there for anyone who is in need, not only in their happiness but definitely when they are at their weakest !!!! I feel surprised today how as a child i was always rewarded for helpfulness , thinking back in time i believe that is where my strength lies . I strongly feel a helping hand at the right moment can mean the world for someone in need .
Iam blessed with a loving family , our best time of the year is when NFL season begins !!!
I'am sincerely thankful to UTSAV for giving me a platform where i could explore and envision a more humane , kind and loving world
